Educational Psychologist Eases Parents? Concerns Over Children?s Use of Technology

Educational Psychologist Eases Parents’ Concerns Over Children’s Use of Technology

Melanie West, educational psychologist and expert in life-long learning

Manhattan Beach, California (PRWEB) February 28, 2012

Melanie West, Educational Psychologist and expert in life-long learning, recently held a discussion with a number of parents concerning technology and how children use it.

“You probably see kids nowadays on their phones or iPads instead of doing homework,” Melanie said to the group of parents. “Your first instinct may be to tell them to turn off the technology and get back to work, but your child may ACTUALLY be doing their homework.”

Parents may have concerns over their children’s use of technology, but Melanie West believes that technology like iPads and smartphones can actually make the learning process more effective and enjoyable.

In fact, many schools across America have begun integrating various forms of technology into their classrooms. For instance, the Manhattan Beach School District in California launched a pilot program where certain classrooms were given iPads to aid in learning.

As Tom Vander Ark discussed in his Huffington Post article, “A Turning Point”, technology such as smartphones, tablets, and online networks (ie, Edmodo) are allowing innovations like personalized, one on one teaching that a few years ago wasn’t even possible.

For Melanie West, this is a blessing: “When you look at the statistics, you see most students are struggling in school. The issue isn’t the student, but the way schools teach. Every person learns in a unique way, but schools teach only one way. And if a student doesn’t learn that way, they can’t succeed.”

With these innovations, children will be able to learn more effectively and more easily.

“For instance,” said Melanie, “brain research shows us that the right side of the brain thinks 3-dimensionally having the ability to look at information from all possible angles. This is the same side of the brain that stores understanding of concepts. When you ‘know’ something without hesitation, you have stored that information in the right hemisphere of the brain. Tablets now allow students to experience information 3-dimensionally with images and videos, and learn in a way never before possible.”

Finishing up her presentation, Melanie emphasized, “When used correctly, technology can help your child truly learn.”

Melanie West is an Expert in Life-Long Learning. Both an accomplished educational psychologist and mother of four, Melanie West has devoted her life to helping children succeed both in school and in life. New Online Early Childhood Education Degree Supported By $ 410 Billion Stimulus Plan

(Vocus) May 1, 2009

Just two months after President Obama announced a $ 410 billion stimulus plan that highlights early childhood education initiatives, Rasmussen College is officially launching its Associate of Science degree in Early Childhood Education online.

According to Eric J. Karola, Ph.D, and Executive Director of the Early Care and Education Consortium, the stimulus plan includes a $ 65 million increase for the Child Care and Development Block Grant, a $ 235 million increase for Head Start, and additional increases to other early childhood education initiatives (http://mail.ccie.com/go/eed/3205).

A March 26 article in the Child Care Exchange newsletter, Exchange Every Day, outlined the education initiative and stated that the President expressed a strong commitment to care and education programs, which includes an Early Learning Child Grant.

Rasmussen College launched its program online at the beginning of April, and is now enrolling students to begin July 6. The College has been offering the program at several of its other campuses in Minnesota.

“The commitment to education by President Obama speaks volumes to the potential of education professionals,” Director of the School of Education Cecelia Westby said. “Early childhood education professionals are able to contribute to the growth and development of our most important resource–young children–and there are excellent career opportunity for these professionals.”

The Early Childhood Education degree at Rasmussen College prepares students to work in areas such as pre-schools, child care centers, school districts, and in the classroom. Early Childhood Education is a degree within the School of Education at Rasmussen College.

Career placement assistance is also available to graduates. To date, 100 percent of the 97 graduates of the School of Education have been placed in careers in their field.

First-ever Money-back Guarantee for Resume Services

First-ever Money-back Guarantee for Resume Services

Satisfaction Guaranteed

Wilmington, Delaware (PRWEB) February 23, 2012

A new money-back guarantee has just been announced by Resume Services Online, making it the first resume writing service company to make such an offer.

“Job hunting is so much more effective with a professional resume, so we decided to do something that would help people feel more comfortable getting one,” says Gerry Sandis, spokesman for Resume Services Online. “We have decided to make this a totally risk-free environment , so that more people will take advantage of getting their resume professionally prepared.”

What convinced Resume Services Online that this was the right approach was their 99.8 percent satisfaction rate. The money-back guarantee applies to the three main services offered:

ENTRY LEVEL: This is for recent graduates who are just getting started in the job market, whose previous employment has been mostly part-time, or for people switching careers, whose previous employment is not relevant to the positions they are now seeking. It is a simple resume based on education and skills, more than on experience.

PROFESSIONALS: This is for people moving up through the ranks in their profession, who have solid experience behind them and realistic plans to climb the career ladder ahead of them. This resume positions them as both skilled and experienced.

EXECUTIVES: This is for people in the corner office, or ready to move in – CEOs, CFOs, business owners, top-level managers and other leaders. The executive resume writing service sums up both skills and experience to demonstrate the candidate’s good judgment and decision-making capabilities.

Each service, includes several packages, depending on what is needed for the situation, and each resume is custom-written for the candidate and the situation. The company specializes in certain professions, including nursing, engineering, sales, IT, accounting and teachers – resumes that are in high demand for skilled professionals.

The money-back guarantee applies to the resume, not to the job hunt as a whole. “The resume has a very specific role – to get you an interview. To help the hiring team choose you to be one of the few people to interview from a pile of many,” explains Sandis. “Once you land the interview, the resume no longer makes much difference. Now it’s up to you to sell yourself, in personal.” Resume Services Online offers interview success tips from time to time on its blog at http://www.resumeservicesonline.com/blog/.

Resume Services Online is a leading resume writing service, helping people get their foot in the door, one foot at a time, where they most want to be hired. They can be found at http://www.resumeservicesonline.com, offering a convenient access for everyone.

O’Fallon-Based Assisted Living at the Meadowlands Offers ’10 Things to Ask’ Memory Care Guide

Memory Care Assisted Living at the Meadowlands in O’Fallon, MO

O’Fallon, MO (PRWEB) February 20, 2012

As one in eight baby boomers are projected to develop Alzheimer’s as they age, Assisted Living at the Meadowlands, an innovative senior living community focusing on providing exceptional, loving, and healing care to seniors with memory care, assisted living and special care neighborhoods, is part of the growing trend of memory care in senior living.

Statistics from the Alzheimer’s Association show that two-thirds to three-quarters of people living in care communities will have some form of dementia. As quality of care enhances longer lives, communities that design programs that meet needs as they change are becoming vital for caregivers, according to Assisted Living at the Meadowlands.

“Assisted Living at the Meadowlands has a secure memory neighborhood. The value of a secure memory unit is knowing that your loved one is safe in the hands of loving, compassionate, educated, and familiar faces,” said Tracy Voyles, Wellness Director. “Activities are focused on decreasing over stimulation and complimenting the residents various degrees of independence, promoting dignity.”

There are many benefits to secure memory care:

Themed life stations with a purpose to enhance memory
Expanded activities for residents with memory loss
Smaller meal portions for flexible, frequent dining

When Mary Ellen Racen started asking repetitive questions and clearing off other resident’s plates, staff at the Meadowlands knew it was time for her to start receiving Memory Care. Part of her care includes special activities where she helps others, like passing out drinks and snacks and assisting with running activities.

“She is so happy to feel that she is of use by helping, is much calmer with decreased anxiety, and is not agitated, since others are not rude to her for asking the same question twice,” Voyles said.

Care partners at Assisted Living at the Meadowlands recommend memory care environments, offering a “10 Things to Ask” guide for caregivers when choosing a memory care community.

ASSISTED LIVING AT THE MEADOWLANDS

We provide a nourishing community focused on wellness, activities and events that keep seniors active, along with peace of mind, privacy and safety so that caregivers know their loved ones can be at their best.

Residents enjoy a cozy home without the hassle, knowing we are there to support them and help whenever needed with memory care, assisted living and short-stays for caregiver relief. Our dining room is open 12 hours a day with a restaurant style menu in a resort-like atmosphere.

The beautiful gardens and courtyard of Assisted Living at the Meadowlands are surrounded by family friendly O’Fallon, Missouri, regularly voted one of “America’s Top 100 Places to Live.” Across the street is T.R. AirBagIt: When It?s Time to Tow, It?s What You Know

February 18, 2012 By: admin Category: Colleges And Universities

AirBagIt: When It’s Time to Tow, It’s What You Know

AirBagIt

Mesa, Arizona (PRWEB) February 18, 2012

AirBagIt.com has launched a new online educational forum designed specifically to help customers understand the technically intricate world of towing kits.

Alongside its new, trendsetting “Knowledge Base 101” – which overflows with definitions and directions designed to help customers understand their new parts and get them to perform optimally – AirBagIt this week premiered its specialized “Towing Kits Knowledge Base,” an in-depth exploration of towing kit installations and procedures.

“In any industry, on any level, even the best products have to be installed properly, or they’ll never work,” Joe Morrow, president of AirBagIt.com, said in a press statement issued today. “That means truly understanding every part’s purpose and functionality before you even attempt to plug it in. We designed the ‘Towing Kits Knowledge Base’ to give customers that exacting level of detail and wisdom, so they’ll be able to install our towing kits and get the best possible use out of them.”

The “Towing Kits Knowledge Base” includes numerous photographs, cautionary tales about installation mishaps and one-on-one comparisons between customizable AirBagIt.com products and competitors’ one-size-fits-all kits. Among other things, the database explains why it may be worth the time and effort to relocate exhaust or shock absorbers, why simply installing air springs on a truck won’t necessarily make it run smoother and how AirBagIt.com’s advanced Inboard Towing Kit installs inside the frame and over the axle, requiring only 30 PSI to lift (as opposed to 120 PSI with other brands) and still riding smooth.

Visitors will also find links to Off-Road Magazine and 8-Luds Magazine articles on AirBagIt’s exclusive 4Link and Fifth-Wheel towing kits, real-life customer testimonials, customer videos showing the AirBagIt towing kits in action and more.

“We covered just about every part and product we carry in our ‘Knowledge Base 101,’ but we thought it was important to offer some additional knowledge when it comes to our towing kits,” AirBagIt President Morrow noted. “Towing kits are among our most popular products, and we want our current and future customers to know exactly what sets them apart – and to understand that proper installation and maintenance is absolutely critical to their performance.”

AirBagIt launched in 1987 as Ratical Tops, a maker of convertible tops for the popular truck brands of the day. In 1992, the company expanded its product lines to include air-suspension systems and other products. It incorporated that year as AIM Industries, producer of the AirBagIt and Chassis Tech brands.

AirBagIt has continued to expand its product lines – and topflight services, such as the “Knowledge Base 101” and “Towing Kits Knowledge Base” – during more than two decades of professional service. It received a patent in 2002 for engineering the first air strut to replace the original MaxPherson strut suspension system, replacing the MacPherson’s coil spring-suspension with an air-bag suspension.

“We’ve always been about innovation,” Morrow noted. “That’s how we grew from those humble beginnings at Ratical Tops to the global leader in air-suspension kits. But AirBagIt is also about superior customer service. You can’t just throw products out there and hope home mechanics understand them, so we offer these special databases to help our customers understand the best ways to get the most out of AirBagIt and Chassis Tech products.”

For more information on AIM Industries or the AirBagIt and Chassis Tech brands call (800) 842-8789.

“If you need an air-suspension kit, a towing kit, a lambo door or other products to improve your vehicle’s look or performance, AirBagIt.com has what you’re looking for,” Morrow said. “And now, thanks to great innovations like the ‘Towing Kits Knowledge Base,’ even amateur mechanics can better understand our products!”

About AirBagIt

AirBagIt has been the leader of aftermarket air-suspension kits since 1992. Along with the Chassis Tech line of products, AirBagit offers a full line of suspension kits, tow kits, spindles, lambo doors, 4Link kits, train horns and more. The Mesa, Arizona-based retailer ships over 3,000 packages each week and offers a 100-percent refund for unused parts returned within 30 days of purchase, plus a full warranty on all non-electrical parts for as long as the buyer owns them (and a 90-day warranty on all electrical parts).

Free Resources Help Students Apply for Financial Aid, Reduce the Cost of College

February 12, 2012 By: admin Category: Colleges And Universities

Free Resources Help Students Apply for Financial Aid, Reduce the Cost of College

Washington, DC (PRWEB) January 24, 2012

For thousands of American families, January is the month for setting resolutions, recovering from the holidays… and starting to think about paying for college next year. January 1 marked the annual release of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), required by colleges and universities across the nation to determine a student’s eligibility for federal financial aid, federal grants and certain institutional aid.

The federal government distributes billions of dollars every year to help students and families pay for college, but getting your share of that money may seem daunting because the system can be complex. The good news is, it’s easier than ever to apply for federal student aid. The 2012-13 online application form uses new skip-logic, making the FAFSA easier to complete online. And if you have already filed a 2011 income tax return with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), you can auto-populate your FAFSA with accurate tax information by using the new IRS Data Retrieval Tool through http://www.fafsa.gov.

“Students and families can get a quality higher education without breaking the bank by taking advantage of student aid opportunities—and NASFAA offers some useful resources to guide them through the process,” said NASFAA president Justin Draeger.

The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) has developed three free resources to help students accurately file the FAFSA. These resources provide a wealth of information for students, families and counselors who advise families trying to pay for college.

1.    Cash for College gives an overview of the types of aid available and explains how the process works.

2.    Mistakes to Avoid When Applying for Student Aid includes information on the most common errors applicants make when completing the FAFSA and how to avoid them. In addition, the publication has tips on what documents are necessary for successful FAFSA completion and links to free resources.

3.    Tip Sheets for Unique Student Populations help federal student aid applicants in exceptional situations tackle tricky questions on the FAFSA. NASFAA offers specialized tip sheets for adult learners, single parents, members of the military, wards of the court, foster youth, undocumented students, and more.

All of these free resources and many others—including information about state FAFSA deadlines and creating a Personal Identification Number (PIN) for filing online—are available on the “Students, Parents, and Counselors” section of NASFAA.org.

About NASFAA

The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) is a nonprofit membership organization that represents nearly 20,000 financial aid professionals at 2,800 colleges, universities, and career schools across the country. Each year, financial aid professionals help more than 16 million students receive funding for post secondary education. Based in Washington, D.C., NASFAA is the only national association with a primary focus on student aid legislation, regulatory analysis, and training for financial aid administrators. For more information, visit http://www.nasfaa.org.

Groundbreaking Medication in Men’s Sexual Health to Revolutionize Treatment of Premature Ejaculation

February 10, 2012 By: admin Category: Colleges And Universities

Groundbreaking Medication in Men’s Sexual Health to Revolutionize Treatment of Premature Ejaculation

Newport Beach, California (PRWEB) February 10, 2012

Premature Ejaculation (PE) affects approximately 30 million men in the United States, twice as many as the more highly publicized Erectile Dysfunction (ED). But unlike ED, which can be treated by effective drugs such as Viagra, Levitra and Cialis, PE is a condition that lacks a truly effective option sanctioned by the medical community and the FDA.

The frustration felt by doctors and PE sufferers, however, is now over with the introduction of Absorption Pharmaceutical’s groundbreaking treatment. Promescent is a revolutionizing, over-the-counter PE treatment approved under strict FDA monograph guidelines. CEO of AP, Jeff Abraham says, “The field of sexual medicine is dominated by behemoths like Glaxo, Pfizer, Eli Lilly and J&J so our success is all the more remarkable and a powerful testament to our breakthrough product. We remain committed to establishing Promescent as the number one preferred choice of every urologist and sexual medicine expert to treat their patients who suffer from PE.”

Dr. Ronald Gilbert, chief urologist at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, CA and Founder and Chief Medical Officer of Absorption Pharmaceuticals, developed the lidocaine based topical anesthetic after recognizing the absence of a safe and effective treatment for PE sufferers. “Although premature ejaculation is widely considered the most prevalent male sexual dysfunction, men who suffer from poor control of ejaculation have not had the treatment options seen in other sexual dysfunctions such as erectile dysfunction”, says Dr. Gilbert. Prior to Promescent, the most common treatment for PE was a class of daily anti-depressant medication called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Although SSRIs address the issue of early ejaculation for some men, there are also negative side effects such as reduced sexual desire, nausea, diarrhea and insomnia. SSRIs also require a daily dosage regardless of sexual activity. Unsatisfied with SSRIs to treat PE with his own patients, Dr. Gilbert began his quest to find a better alternative.

Years of research and development by Dr. Gilbert and a major US university’s school of pharmacy resulted in Promescent, considered to be a game-changer in the treatment of PE. Unlike SSRIs, Promescent does not have the potential for side effects. The medication is sprayed on the penis and quickly absorbs to a dry state. Because of its unique patented formulation, Promescent is able to penetrate through the protective barrier of the epidermis to where the nerve endings that control ejaculation are located. This allows for the user and his partner to maintain full sexual sensation without any transference of the medication to his partner. Using a metered-dose spray bottle, Promescent can be applied in a precise, adjustable dosage. Another significant advantage to Promescent over SSRIs is its on-demand usage. Rather than the required daily intake of SSRIs, Promescent is applied 10 minutes prior to sexual activity.

Promescent has garnered overwhelming praise and acceptance by top urologists and sexual health experts worldwide as well as key opinion leaders in the field.

“Controlling ejaculation is a common request for men. I always recommend Promescent. My patients tell me that, when using Promescent, they have a significant delay in ejaculation and an improved sex life. It is easy, and it works.”

Michael Chancellor, MD, Director of Neuro-Urology, Beaumont Hospital

Pittsburg, PA

“Promescent is looking promising for my PE patients. So far, it has worked like a charm — extremely satisfied is the best way to describe its impact.”

David Cahn, MD, Foothills Urology

Lakewood, CO

“Compared to SSRIs, it is safe and effective without the unwanted side effects. Finally a great solution for those who have suffered with PE with limited treatment options.”

Stephen Hightower, MD, Coast Urology Group

Long Beach, CA

“I want people to understand how important premature ejaculation is. It is an un-met need…This is a very important product. I like it. I am going to recommend it to my patients. It’s a very, very important issue.”

Harry Fisch, MD, Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University
