My College Options and Voices for America’s Children Partner To Uncover the Opinions of High School Students on Current Events
s Summit, MO (Vocus) August 11, 2010
Lee’ My College Options, the nation’s largest college planning program, and Voices for America’s Children today announced that they have partnered to study the opinions of American high school students on the issues of the day, including the topics that they believe Congress should be focusing on right now.
The first annual survey, “The 2010 National Student Report to Congress,” is focusing on issues important to today’s teenagers, such as the environment, the economy, the war in Afghanistan, immigration and other social issues. This includes discovering the most popular news information sources used by students. The report will be released in September. Tens of thousands of teachers and educators nationwide were also surveyed.
Ryan Munce, Vice President of My College Options, says this research is a major accomplishment for the Company. “We have been studying student opinions and thoughts about their futures for many years. This new partnership provides an opportunity for our nation’s youth to speak out on the issues facing the world today. We are excited to partner with Voices on this meaningful endeavor.”
Voices for America’s Children President and CEO Bill Bentley said that he is very pleased that for the first time members of Congress and child advocates will have survey data from students in their cities and states. “As child advocates, we speak up for a segment of the population that can’t vote. This survey lets them be heard, and gives our elected officials key insights on issues that impact child health, welfare and economic success,” he added.
My College Options and Voices will continue to work together on a continuing basis to survey youth on issues that Congress and the current administration are considering.
