Novel with Engineering Background Wins Award in International Media Contest
London, England (PRWEB) November 17, 2006
A power-plant engineer has won an award in the Engineering Media Challenge, which aims to present a positive image of the engineering profession through books, plays, radio or TV dramas or other formats. The contest was launched by the Institution of Civil Engineers in collaboration with the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors.
The awards dinner was held on November 2 at the Institution of Civil Engineers, Westminster, and the prizes were presented by the ICE President, Gordon Masterton and TV presenters Kate Bellingham and Adam Hart Davies.
Author David Lindsley won the Judges’ Special Prize for Meritious Effort. The Judges felt that the plot was ‘racy and believable’. The central character in the book uses forensic engineering skills to find the cause of a catastrophic explosion at a Hong Kong power plant. His efforts reunite him with a previous lover, an old enemy and a ruthless politician and lead to the brink of a world-scale disaster.
